JATUN YACU means BIG WATER in the local Quechua language. Follow Nouria Newman and Ben Stookesberry paddling with Abe Herrera and the Ecuador kayak Club on the Upper Napo. Supporting and inspiring the local whitewater community on one of the most emblematic rivers in the Tena drainage. Honored to have some of the most amazing paddlers and river loving people in this planet joining us on an effort to help with the preservation of rivers in Ecuador, this efforts are still at the biggining of the race. The Coca river morphology during 2020 was an epic event to witness, check out this amazing adventure Ben Stookesberry and Nouria Newman decided to take in order to explore the newly formed San Rafael Canyon after the collapse of the 131m tall world known San Rafael Falls. The river continues carving the valley and the erosion is moving closer to the COCA CODO SYNCLAIR dam, the largest hydroelectric project in Ecuador.
