DAY 1: AFTERNOON AND SUNSET SUP IN THE BIG LAGOON
Welcome to the Amazon Rainforest, the lungs of the earth and home to thousands of plant and animal life. After a short morning flight to the town of Lago Agrio from Quito, we will embark on a scenic shuttle ride crossing through the jungle towards our destination. Prepare to experience some of the most luscious views of every colour green imaginable and rivers and waterfalls of all shapes and sizes down to the port. Upon our arrival we will have time to freshen up before hopping on a motorized canoe on a ride that will take us down the meandering Cuyabeno River. Make sure to keep your cameras handy, for we will encounter various species of monkeys and birds along the way.
Just on time for lunch we will check in to an exclusive eco-lodge located right off the main river. This unique set of bungalows proper to the Amazon Rainforest will become home for the next few days and offer the perfect setting for your adventure. Following lunch and a quick introduction to your guides, we will head out to the water for an easy stand-up paddling afternoon. Get comfortable on your boards while witnessing the most magical sunset only seen in the jungle, always expecting the first views of fresh pink water dolphins (permanent residents of the lagoon) specially during the high water seasons.
After an exquisite dinner, we will have the opportunity to lounge back and relax at the lodge in one of our hammocks. Enjoy the magical sounds of the nightlife while sipping back on a cocktail, reading a book or learning some Spanish from your guide.
DAY 2: EXPLORING THE FLOODED FOREST (EXPEDITION SUP)
|flyfishing dreams will come true here, fishing for peacockBass in the Amazon of Ecuador is unreal, we need to go to different places a little farder form here.|
Next stop on the itinerary is a jungle hike. Put on your rubber boots and get ready to encounter some of the most incredible flora and fauna in the world. Traverse the jungle with your guide, learn about the sacredness of the Amazon and build up an appetite for the lunch that will be waiting back at the lodge for you.
Take some time to relax before we head out again to the lagoons on our paddleboards. This time around we will go into areas of the forest only accessible on the boards and get metaphorically lost in its beauty and immensity. This is a good opportunity to bring your cameras out, as you never know what we may see along the way. We will make our way back to the main lagoon for a second epic swim and a sunset before returning to the lodge for dinner.
DAY 3: VISIT to THE SIONA Community
Finishing up breakfast meet at the port where we will head out to visit the traditional indigenous Siona community. They are one of the hundreds of indigenous tribes local to the region who have opened their doors for us to visit and learn about their life. In order to get to them, we will paddle for approximately 5 of the most amazing hours on the trip. We will go across untouched and pristine areas that will take your breath away. We will paddle by massive trees older than 200 years filled with wisdom, life and wildlife. Keep your cameras handy and enjoy the adventurous yet comfortable paddle journey. We will stop for lunch along the way and get a guided tour on all the wildlife and flora we will be able to spot.
Once we reach the community a family, who in their native tongue will share with us a bit about their life, will welcome us in. Our guides will be able to translate and together we will participate in learning about how to make cassave (a traditional bread made for centuries) and taste it at the end. Before the sun goes down, a motorized canoe will pick us up taking us back to the lagoon for a third and final sunset before heading back to the lodge for dinner.
For those adrenaline seekers, the option of going out on a night hike will be available. This is the time when they jungle truly comes alive. Grab your headlamps, camera and rubber boots to see the wildest array of colored reptiles you will ever see.
